What is behind the wall?

A good mounting brief considers loads, backing, placement and the finished surface.

Know the item

Share weight, dimensions, bracket details and the manufacturer instructions. Moving loads and cantilevered items can create different demands from a small flat picture. Do not assume all wall plugs or wall types are interchangeable.

A provider may need to inspect behind the finish or add backing. Agree the investigation and repair scope before drilling begins.

Place it for real use

Stand in the room and check viewing height, reach, door travel and cleaning space. Mark a proposed position with removable tape. Confirm that it remains useful for everyone who will use the room.

For wet rooms and exterior mounting, discuss how the fixing interfaces with water-resistant layers. The visible fastener is only part of the detail.

Ask for a handover

Confirm the installed item can be operated and maintained as intended. Retain product instructions, any load limitations and the record of work. For larger fitted items, note adjustment and warranty contact arrangements.

Make the plan practical.

Use the project planner to organize your own details, then choose the scopes that fit. HAUSE reviews enquiries; availability, qualifications, fees and terms are confirmed individually.

Authoritative starting points

For older materials, read Health Canada’s asbestos guidance. For connected equipment, use the actual manufacturer’s installation and care manuals and confirm requirements with the responsible local authority and qualified provider.

A clearer brief. A better next step.

New additions. Thoughtfully fitted.
