Describe the job before the device
Say what is being added, where it will be used and why the existing arrangement is insufficient. For an appliance, include the exact model and installation instructions. For lighting, describe the tasks and the people in the space before choosing positions.
Make the route visible
The finished room may hide the practical route from the panel to the new point. Photograph the panel location and the accessible basement, attic or unfinished areas. Do not open energized equipment or remove finishes to investigate on your own.
Clarify connected work
A pendant may need ceiling support and patching; an appliance circuit may involve cabinetry and a prepared opening. Ask the qualified electrical provider what they will assess, what needs another trade and who coordinates the sequence.
Compare complete proposals
Ask each proposer to state the device or circuit, controls, protection, routing, surface restoration, approvals, testing and exclusions. A low device-only price is difficult to compare with a complete finished-room scope.
Keep the handover useful
Have the provider identify new controls and panel labels, show normal operation and supply the product and work records relevant to the project. Record anything left for another trade before calling the room complete.
